Although Chesapeake Safe Harbor is a new nonprofit corporation, we have been rescuing and placing needy Chesapeake Bay Retrievers of all ages for 20 plus years. During this time period over 1600 Chessies have found new homes thanks to the enormous unselfish love and efforts of Jane and Ron Peabody.

The very nature of a chessie is such that he does not do well in the ordinary shelter
environment; thus it is not a safe place for most chessies. Coming into Chesapeake
Safe Harbor he will be among his own kind and receive the understanding care and training
of a family devoted only to this special breed.
Whatever the reason for needing a new start in life, Chesapeake Safe Harbor will provide
each chessie with its individual needs - loving care, vet attention and rehabilitation
as needed to enhance his chances of finding an appropriate new home where he can do
his job as custodian of this home and family.
Chesapeake Safe Harbor also acts as a referral service to our national network of
volunteers, and is continually available for education of the public about this great
breed.
Although Chesapeake Safe Harbor is a new nonprofit corporation, we have been rescuing
and placing needy Chesapeake Bay Retrievers of all ages for 20 years & over 1400 Chessies have found new homes thru Safe Harbor's efforts.

| Chesapeake Safe Harbor has been blessed to have Gibby Booth, currrently a college student, add her talents and love of Chesapeakes to our rescue efforts. She hails from western Massachusetts and has the interest and energy to keep Chesapeake rescue work going. Already many of our Safe Harbor residents are indebted to her caring and incredible efforts to get them out of harm's way. |

A harbor, even if it is a little harbor, is a good thing, since adventures come
into it as well as go out, and the life in it grows strong, because it takes something
from the world and has something to give in return.

As Chesapeake Safe Harbor is a non-profit corporation 501(c)(3), all donations
are tax deductible. Our chessies would always welcome a gift of bedding, toys, treats,
Heartworm pills, and even a financial donation would be put to very good use for spay/neuter
surgeries. If you cannot actually adopt one of our fine brown dogs, you might consider
supporting a specific chessie while in our foster care (We gladly accept Visa/Master
cards.) Please mail or call if you would like to pursue this idea.
